DIRECTIONS TO 190 FORDHAM ST.

By Car:

Take Route 95 North toward Connecticut (or South toward NY City if you’re starting from up north). (If you’re coming from the Tappan Zee Bridge, take 287 East to 95 South. )

Get off at the Orchard Beach/City Island exit (Exit 8B on Rte 95) and follow signs to City Island. (Cross a bridge and make a Right turn where the sign says to, go halfway around a traffic circle and follow sign to City Island.)

Cross the second bridge onto City Island. You’ll be on City Island Avenue. Turn left at the 3rd traffic light on Fordham Street (City Island Diner on the corner). Go a few hundred yards until you see a large building set back from the street on your right. There’s a sign that says “Nautical Museum”.

This is it. Park on the street somewhere (there’s usually plenty of space farther down Fordham St) and come up the pedestrian walkway to the right (City Island Ave Side) of the building. Go through the outside gate to the entrance and ring the bell for #16. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor.

(You can also get there by the Hutchinson River Parkway – either coming from Queens by the Whitestone Bridge or coming down from upstate – there’s a City Island exit, then just follow the signs for City Island.)

By Public Transportation:

Take the #6 train Uptown to the end of the line at Pelham Bay Park. Go right as you come out of the turnstiles so you come out on the Bruckner Blvd side of the station. Find the bus stop for the BX29 bus to City Island
(it’s close to the subway station door).

Take a BX29 bus (make sure it says City Island on it) to City Island. Get off at the third traffic light (by the City Island Diner) and cross City Island Avenue to walk up Fordham Street. Find the big building with the museum
sign in front and enter to the right side as above. #16, 3rd floor.
